| In November 2002, New Hampshire Enery Plan (http://www.nhecs.org/nhep/plan.html) | ||||||
| section 8.2.5 highlights these eight wood-fired power plants. Independent analysis of | ||||||
| the economics of these facilities completed for the New Hamsphire Deparment of | ||||||
| Resources and economic development in 2001, as well as market experience with | ||||||
| facilities following the termination of rate orders, show that these facilities do not | ||||||
| operate economically in a fully competitive environment. The five operating wood fired | ||||||
| power plants, which include the PSNH buyout facilites as well as Hemphill Power and | ||||||
| Light, have a combined output of approximately 77.6 MW, and consume around 1.1 | ||||||
| million green tons of wood each year. | ||||||
